2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier

England's important UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier at home to Greece will be played at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster on Wednesday 3 March.

Stuart Pearce's men currently sit second in Group Nine, two points behind Greece with a game in hand, so the meeting will play a major part in the destiny of the group. Only one team will definitely reach a play-off for a place in the Finals in Denmark in 2011, while the runners-up will have to sweat on a spot as one of the best second-placed teams in qualifying.

The two nations last met for the Qualifier in September when Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge gave England the lead in the Greek town of Tripoli before a virtuoso performance and goal from Panathinaikos winger Sotiris Ninis earned the home side a draw.

The match against the Greeks in March will kick-off at 6pm, to enable fans to enjoy both the Under-21s game and the Senior Team's pre-World Cup friendly against Egypt at Wembley Stadium, which will be broadcast live on ITV at 8pm.

England teams have already appeared at the impressive Keepmoat Stadium, the U19s having played there three times since its opening in 2007.

Chris Martin of Norwich City scored the only goal of a friendly against Turkey in March 2007 and there were subsequent UEFA Championship qualifiers in which our U19s beat Iceland 5-1 in October 2007 and Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 in May 2009.

The England Women’s team also drew 0-0 there with Czech Republic in a Euro 2009 qualifier in March 2008.

Ticket details for the match will be announced soon. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN.
