England will play host to the Elite Round of qualifying for this summer’s European U19 Championship Finals next month, when the Young Lions take on Slovakia, Bosnia and Scotland. Yorkshire will be the location for all of the games, with the four teams battling it out to finish in top spot and thereby seal a place in the last eight for July’s Final stage in Ukraine.
The U19s secured their place in this stage of the competition after progressing through the First Round last October against Serbia, Northern Ireland and Albania and they will now be looking to reach the Final stage for a second successive season after last year travelling to Czech Republic.
The venues which will host the games are Bradford City’s Coral Windows Stadium (Valley Parade), Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane and Keepmoat Stadium, the home of Doncaster Rovers.
First up for England is Bosnia, at the Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday 27 May whilst Scotland face Slovakia at Bramall Lane at the same time.
Two days later and Brian Eastick’s team are in Bradord where they take on Slovakia at Valley Parade whilst Scotland simultaneously tackle Bosnia in Doncaster.
The final games take place on Monday 1 June with England rounding up their schedule against the 'Auld Enemy' Scotland at Bramall Lane whilst Bosnia and Slovakia meet at Valley Parade.
"It should be a real humdinger," said Eastick, in relation to the game between England and Scotland.
"From a personal point of view, it's the first time I've been involved as a coach in an England-Scotland game, so I'm looking forward to that.
"The other teams will be something of an unknown quantity, but John Peacock (U17s Head Coach) knows a little about them because he's played against them before, so we will sit down and have a chat and do our homework on them as we always do.
"We certainly won't be underestimating anybody and we're hoping we can get through."
