England began their Algarve Cup campaign on Saturday with a 1-1 draw over France.

Arsenal striker Benik Afobe was on the mark early in the second half to give John Peacock's young side the lead.

France failed to clear their lines from a corner on 51 minutes and the ball was played back into the dangerzone by George Thorne. Afobe latched onto the pass and finished well.

However, the French equalised eleven minutes later through Anthony Koura to share the spoils.

In the tournament's other game, hosts Portugal drew 0-0 with Ukraine, who England meet on Sunday.
