John Peacock's side take on Kazakhstan in opening Euro qualifier
England v Kazakhstan
UEFA European U17 Championship
First Round Qualifying
8am (GMT), Monday 26 October 2009
Ismet Qaibov, Baku, Azarbaijan
John Peacock has taken his England U17 team to Azerbaijan where, on Monday, they will begin their qualifying campaign for the European U17 Championship.
This current crop of Young Lions have graduated from last season’s Victory Shield-winning side and in August they finished second in The FA International U17 Tournament. However, the Kazakhstan encounter represents their first taste of competitive international football.
On Wednesday they take on the hosts before wrapping things up against Serbia on 31 October. The top two teams in the group will progress to the Elite Qualifying Round, taking them one step closer to the European Finals, in Liechtenstein next year.
As always, you can find out how the U17s fared on TheFA.com.
