Graham Keeley's Partially Sighted team beat Turkey 6-1 in Euros.
England 6-1 Turkey2009 Partially Sighted European ChampionshipGroup StageWednesday 1 July 2009Nantes, FranceEngland’s Partially Sighted Football team won their third and final group game against Turkey at the European Championship in France, setting up a 5th/6th place Play-Off on Friday.England were looking to put their first two group games behind them and they started the game brightly, putting Turkey on the back foot after just four minutes after a slick, attacking move was finished brilliantly by John McDougall, shooting low and hard into the far bottom corner.It was not long until England Captain, Steve Daley - recording his 102nd cap - doubled England's lead and then followed this shortly after with another quality finish to put Graham Keeley's side firmly in the driving seat.With England dominating possession Keeley sent on Michael Kelly for his international debut and it was not long till the tall forward made an impact on the game, finishing at the back post.In the second half Daley put the game behind beyond doubt wirth his hat-trick, rounding off another solid performance from the skipper. Although Turkey where outclassed for most the game they continued to push forward and from a quick turn on the edge of the box the Turkish No.9 reduced the deficit.With five minutes remaining Kelly grabbed his second of the game with a powerful shot into the roof of net from ten yards to cap a very impressive first game for his country.England will now contest the 5th/6th place Play-Off against Ireland on Friday. Kick-off is 11am.
