The England LD team became Global Games champions after comprehensively beating Poland in the final game held in Bollnäs.
The first half saw England produce their best football of the tournament leaving the Poles chasing shadows unable to keep up with the slick interchange of passing and movement of the Three Lions.
The first half scoring started in the 12th minute when from a Ronnie Watson corner Dean Earle headed home at the far post, this was closely followed a stunning goal from Bajada.
Collecting the ball out wide on the left he beat the closest defender and then cut into the box to majestically finish at the far post. 2-0 England.
What followed was somewhat controversial, after a corner and goal scored by Scott Curley, the referee saw an infringement that nobody else saw and sent Dean Earle off for violent conduct in the 42nd minute.
England’s response was to score their third goal through Lele Bajada to go into half time three goals to the good.
The second half saw England control the game, playing neat, tidy football. Ronnie Watson played a captain’s role by urging everybody on and totally dominating central midfield.
Scott Curley was immense in his role of centre half in for the suspended Chandler. England completed their scoring through a Bajada hat trick after he wriggled into the box and coolly finished. At 4-0 England began to look weary and Poland pulled one back after a defensive mix up.
The final whistle saw England celebrating their second major football championship in three years.
After the game team manager Lyndon Lynch commented "I am delighted with the team performance and proud of what the players have achieved.
"Every player and member of staff has given all they can to secure the win that confirms England as the number one team in LD football"
After collecting their gold medals and trophy, Ronnie Watson, Danny Cole, James Morris, Ricky Alexander and Scott Curley were named in the All Star team from the tournament, Curley also collect the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
