Porto, maybe the highlight of all of Portugal, is a fantastic, vibrant city.
Porto
Dramatically set at the mouth of the River Douro, Porto is Portugal’s second city and a striking gateway to the north of the country.
The historic centre of the city boasts some exceptional architecture and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1996. It’s easy to see why.
The Torre do Clerigos and the city’s cathedral offer the best panoramic views from which to really admire Porto.
But with modern art galleries, shops, cafes, markets and impressive bridges, there’s also plenty to see at street level.
And whether it’s the local gastronomic delights or port, the city’s world famous wine from the Douro Valley, the taste buds of any visitor should be well charmed in Porto.
