The presence of West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola and a group of first team stars in the Upton Park crowd failed to inspire their U18 players as goals from Newcastle youngsters Jeffrey Henderson, Philip Airey and Bradden Inman sent them crashing out of The FA Youth Cup.

Newcastle deserve their place in the Quarter Final, even though West Ham hit the crossbar and Eoin Wearen had a penalty saved.

The Magpies were far sharper in front of goal and took the lead with their first proper attack of the game on 14 minutes as Henderson was first to react when the ball bounced loose from a corner.

The visitors could have increased their lead before scoring twice in the space of three minutes after the break through Airey and Inman and they will now face the winners of Hull City or Crystal Palace, after their tie was postponed on Wednesday night.
