In a busy evening in The FA Youth Cup First Round Qualifying, heavyweights Wrexham stole the show by hammering underdogs Ashton Town AFC 9-0 at the Racecourse Ground.
The Dragons, who play in the Conference Premier, caught the visitors cold and raced into a three-goal lead within 24 minutes, thanks to a brace from Louis Moss either side of Max Fargin's piledriver. Rob Salathiel added another before John Jones struck in the 41st and 43rd minute to secure a 6-0 half-time advantage.
And Ashton were unable to stem the flow of goals after the break. Fargin notched his second after 68 minutes, then Jamie Mortin got in on the act three minutes later. And Fargin completed his hat-trick, and rounded off a superb victory, with Wrexham's ninth three minutes from time.
Another former-League side, Grimsby Town, were also in good form sweeping aside Loughborough Dynamo 4-0 away from home. And it was a similar story for Rushden and Diamonds who put seven past lowly St Ives Town with no reply.
Two other sides who put on a show on the road were Dulwich Hamlet who despatched the Metropolitan Police 6-2 while Stone Dominoes rocked Gornal Athletic with a 4-0 win.
There were two ties which had to be decided by penalties during First Round Qualifying. After Hemsworth held Sheffield to a 3-3 home draw, it was the visitors who won the shoot-out 5-4.
And when Ellesmere Rangers and Eccleshall drew 2-2, it was again the away side, Eccleshall, who edged the penalties 5-4.
