Tommy Wright inspired Histon to an impressive 5-1 victory over Hadleigh United as his hat-trick helped secure his side a place in the First Qualifying Round of The FA Youth Cup sponsored by E.ON.
Wright opened the scoring early in the first-half and his second was quickly followed by a third Histon goal from strike partner Jack Sessions.
Wright was allowed to complete his treble in the second-half and manager Brian Page then withdraw him, with the result secured, allowing Wright to enjoy the ovation by the impressive 90 strong crowd.
Hadleigh continued to play neat, attacking football and their consolation goal came from the boot of Jack Gage, who briefly reduced the deficit to three.
Histon captain Scott Everdell restored the four-goal advantage with the game's final goal that rounded off a personal performance that his manager was particularly proud of.
Page said: "Charlie Day really stood out in the centre of midfield as did Scott Everdell in defence. Isaac Smith also impressed when he came on as a sub.
"Hadleigh created a few chances and had they have taken one a bit earlier it could have been a lot different. The goal they scored came from a good move unfortunately for them we were 4-0 up by then," he added.
Next up for Histon is a visit from Norwich, a tie that Page has already started preparing for and his team are relishing.
