Leicester City’s young guns clinched their place in the Fourth Round of The FA Youth Cup after edging out Coventry City in a five-goal thriller at Ricoh Arena.

The Foxes took bragging rights in the M69 derby in a game which could have gone either way. Elliot Chamberlain grabbed the winner to end a topsy-turvy affair in which both teams played some fantastic open and entertaining football.

Nathan Cameron fired the home side ahead after 26 minutes, taking advantage of some sloppy defending after Shaun Jeffers’ half-volley had caused panic in the Leicester backline.

The hosts continued to pile on the pressure with Jeffers going close just before the interval but they were undone with just a minute of the first-half remaining. Jamie Greenway’s defensive error allowed Jeffrey Schlupp to nip in and deflect the ball past home 'keeper Michael Quirke.

Jorrin John’s deflected strike gave the visitors the lead just past the hour mark as Leicester gained the upper hand. But Coventry refused to buckle and finally gained the equaliser their dominance deserved when Jeffers headed home Greenway’s exquisite curling free-kick.

That goal set up a barnstorming finish with both teams going all out for the winner but it was Chamberlain who stole the headlines, weaving his way into the penalty area before firing past Quirke to win the tie.
