Chelsea midfielder Billy Knott is looking forward to sampling life on the Stamford Bridge pitch on Thursday, when his team take on Portsmouth in The FA Youth Cup.

The Blues host Pompey in the Fifth Round and after reaching The Final two seasons ago, Knott and his team-mates are hoping to match that and maybe go one further.

The England U16 and U17 international was still a schoolboy when that happened, but has plenty of memories of seeing the Blues take on Manchester City.

“I went to a couple of games when they were there last time and it was clearly a good experience, and playing in The Final where there was loads of people with a really good atmosphere,” said Knott.

“We haven't really spoken with the other lads about what it will be like, but you know what an experience it will be.

“It should be good, we've been together for training and hopefully everyone will be fit because it will be a really good experience for us all together.”

It also comes as a boost to the U18 players as it gives them a chance to get away from the weekly Academy fixtures which take place at training grounds, and to showcase their skills at top stadiums.

“The Youth Cup is different, we bring the boys from the reserves down that have already moved up, which shows how much we want to win it as a club,” added the Essex-born starlet.

"It's the best thing we can win at our age really, and we have a good, strong team fighting for positions, everyone wants to start every game and we have looked good lately.”
