The FA Women's Premier League Cup

Big wins for Barnet and Leeds

Action in The FA Women's PL Cup and WPL.

Stacey Sowden hit a fine double as Barnet stunned Cardiff City 5-0 away from home to reach the Semi-Finals of The FA Women’s Premier League Cup.

The Bees stormed into the last four on a day when all the other Quarter-Final games were postponed.

Sowden gave Barnet the lead after 19 minutes, but despite the final scoreline it was a tight match in terms of possession.

Jade Dempster made it 2-0 in the 35th minute before two goals in the last five minutes of the first half, from Holly Sandon and Sowden, killed off the Bluebirds. Katie O’Leary then wrapped up the game late on.

Elswhere in the Women’s Premier League, Leeds won 2-1 at Reading to end the home team’s five-game unbeaten run.

Leeds, who had taken just one point from their previous 12, won this time thanks to goals from Holly Sharp with a fine effort from 20 yards and Leah Galton. Mikaela Howell replied in the 80th minute but Reading could not find an equaliser.

Leeds remain in the bottom two despite the result, while Reading are four points behind leaders Sunderland.
