It was a thrilling day of action in The FA Vase on Sunday and Brimsdown Rovers booked their place in the Third Round Proper - just.

In a fierce battle with London Colney, Rikki Burbridge's double proved pivotal. Burbridge opened the scoring for Brimsdown in the 10th minute but Shaun Murphy dragged Colney back into it 20 minutes later.

But Burbridge put Brimsdown back in front two minutes before the break and when Jackson Gash slotted home in the 83rd minute, the game looked safe.

However, Murphy's strike four minutes from time set up a grandstand finale - and Brimsdown just had enough to hold on.

Hoddesdon Town have a rich history in The FA Vase, having won the inaugural Final back in 1975,  but their progress in this year's competition was halted due to a waterlogged pitch. Their tie against Wembley will now take place on Wednesday.

North West Counties Football League leaders Newcastle Town have a 100 per cent record in the league this season but they are out of this year's Vase as they went down 3-2 away at Causeway United.

Newcastle twice equalised, with Michael Douglas cancelling out Duncan Willetts' opener and Jordan Johnson levelling after Ben Stretton's strike, but Causeway prevailed thanks to a penalty from Mark Bellingham.
