Glossop North End manager, Steve Young, believes his side need another good run in The FA Vase to prove reaching last year's Final was not just a piece of outrageous luck.

Young's side suffered a heartbreaking 2-0 defeat by Whitley Bay at Wembley last season and are desperate to bounce back when they kick-off this year's campaign against Dunston UTS this weekend.

"Saturday is a tough, tough task," said North End boss Young. "We would love a decent cup run this season to prove that we deserved to be at Wembley last season.

"We have been to watch them [Dunston UTS] and we know what areas to exploit."

"It was a massive achievement last season, and if we can get to the Semi-Final then of course we will be aiming for a return trip to Wembley."

Last year's runners-up are brimming with confidence going into the Second Round Proper. The club, often cited as the smallest town to play football in England, are currently ninth in the North West Counties Football League and are unbeaten in their last ten games. However, the manager insists there is no complacency in his side.

"We're full of confidence," he added. "The lads have been working really hard in training and that has shown with recent results.

"Teams this season are desperate to beat us but everyone is focused on the job in hand."

Dunston UTS went out of last year's competition in the Fourth Round after losing out 6-5 to Chalfont St Peter AFC in an 11-goal thriller.
