The FA Carlsberg Vase

Protest upheld

Welwyn Garden City v Newmarket Town
The FA Vase Fourth Round Proper Replay
Saturday 28 January 2006

At a meeting of the Protest Sub-Committee meeting today it was decided that a protest from Newmarket Town would be upheld in relation to the above FA Vase tie.

The Sub-Committee made their decision as it has been established from the evidence given, that the player, Luke Medley, was not registered by the qualification date of 12 noon on Friday 20 January 2006.

He was therefore ineligible to play for Welwyn Garden City FC in the Fourth Round Proper Replay.

Therefore, Welwyn Garden City FC are removed from the Competition and the tie is awarded to Newmarket Town FC.

Welwyn Garden City FC will pay adjusted costs of this meeting but no further action will be taken as removal from the Competition is considered sufficient punishment.

In the Fifth Round Proper on Saturday 11 February 2006, Newmarket Town FC will play away at Winchester City FC.
