The draw for the Fourth Round Proper of The FA Carlsberg Vase has been made at Wembley today.
The Vase competition, now in its 38th season, goes national at this stage and South Park, the Combined Counties League side from the Reigate area in Surrey, face a long trip to play at holders Whitley Bay on 21 January.
The Bay look to be in good Vase form again, having already knocked out Tadcaster Albion (4-1) and
Bridlington Town (5-1) at Hillheads Park. South Park have reached the Fourth Round for the first time, David Smith and Justin David contributing the goals as they edged the 1994 winners Diss Town 2-1 before 183 fans at Whitehall Lane on Saturday.
Bournemouth FC or ‘Bournemouth Poppies’ of the Wessex League have also made it through to the last 32 for the first time and their reward for beating Barnstaple Town 2-0 at the weekend is another home tie against Royston Town of the Spartan South Midlands League, 2-1 winners at Haringey Borough.
Northern League Dunston UTS, whose 12-goal haul in the Second Round was only one short of the competition record, are still going strong and now have a trip down to Wisbech Town of the Eastern Counties League to look forward to in the New Year.
All of the 16 winners in this round collect £2,000 from The FA’s prize fund.
