Wroxham aiming to better Final achievement.
The FA Carlsberg Vase
The Final
Winning club receives £20,000 and runner-up receives £10,000 Wroxham have already achieved one of their pre-season ambitions by reaching The FA Vase Final and skipper Graham Challen now wants to go one step forward and take the trophy back to Norfolk,
The Eastern Counties League outfit face a Whitley Bay team who arrive at Wembley looking to lift The Vase for the second successive year, but Challen revealed that the determination in the Wroxham camp can see them through.
“The squad sat down with the boss before the start of the season and we all agreed that this is where we wanted to be, playing in The Final of The FA Vase at Wembley Stadium,” he revealed.
“It really was objective number one so we’ve achieved that goal which is fantastic.
“Now we have to raise the bar a little further and win the cup.”
Their success so far this season has raised local awareness of David Batch’s side and, whatever the result on Sunday, Challen believes it can only help them in the future.
“Reaching The Final of The FA Vase has done wonders for Wroxham FC,” he told the official matchday programme.
“People are talking about the club again and it’s really raised our profile. I think that will set us up nicely for next year and maybe we can get back to the days when Wroxham were dominating the local leagues and seen as a major force in Norfolk football.”
