Andy Ferrell’s 40th-minute penalty proved decisive for the hosts, who struggled to recreate their impressive league form on a difficult playing surface against spirited opponents.
Corby poured forward in the closing stages in search of an equaliser that would have earned a replay, but were unable to find a way through the host’s defence.
York, who are chasing promotion from the Conference Premier to the Football League, were given a stern test by Conference North opponents who have won seven of their previous ten matches away from home.
Missing star striker Richard Brodie through suspension, the hosts struggled to make any impact on the Corby defence in the opening stages.
Levi Mackin finally registered their first shot on target, after 36 minutes, but the midfielder’s effort was easily held by Corby goalkeeper Mark Osborn.
But just three minutes later Corby’s stubborn resistance was ended when Michael Gash was upended inside their penalty area. Ferrell confidently converted high to Osborn’s left, giving York a lead that flattered them even at the halfway stage.
Corby’s powerful frontline, lead by former Nottingham Forest striker Jason Lee, unsettled the York back-four after the restart.
But the visitors were unable to find an all-important breakthrough and it was York’s name that will go in to the draw for the next round.
