Superstitious Kidderminster Harriers winger Brian Smikle will be putting his right boot on first before the game against Stevenage Borough this weekend, as his side look to make The Final of The FA Trophy.

The Harriers winger admitted: "I always put my left boot on first because I've done it since I was a little kid."

The habit seems to be working for Smikle, who is Kiddy's top scorer with 12 goals this season and he will be hoping that his side can avenge the heartache that Semi-Final opposition Stevenage, inflicted on his team back in 2007.

Kidderminster were 2-0 up at the break but ended up being defeated 3-2 in The FA Trophy Final and Smikle recalled: "We were on top of the world at half-time.

"We were all buzzing and I think we got ahead of ourselves thinking we had already won it, but fair play to Stevenage for coming out and giving us a game and going on to win The Trophy with a late goal.

"It was still a great day and I don't regret anything - but the result.

"It was the highlight of my career," said the 25-year-old.

Despite the defeat at Wembley, the former West Bromwich Albion player said that revenge will not be a motive for him in this weekend?s clash.

"Revenge isn't so much on my mind, but don't get me wrong, it would be great to beat Stevenage and get to The Final but just getting there is the main thing.

"Admittedly, beating Stevenage would be all the more sweeter."

Stevenage, second in the Conference Premier and holders of The FA Trophy, will be tough opposition for the Harriers but Smikle insisted: "We're more than capable of beating Stevenage, as we proved against Oxford when we weren't the favourites.

"But spirits are high and I definitely think we can go and beat Stevenage over the two legs."

If the Aggborough side can cause another upset then they will be making a trip to Wembley in search of a first FA Trophy triumph since 1986.

"I never thought I'd play at Wembley in my career and getting the chance to play there at such a young age was brilliant," added the Harriers star.

"I've got a taste of it now and I want more."
