Stevenage Borough came from behind to earn a place in the last four of The FA Trophy, in one of three Fourth Round Proper ties to take place on Saturday afternoon.
The high-flying Conference Premier club fell behind against Workington, of the Conference North, thanks to midfielder Phil McLuckie’s opening goal at the Lamex Stadium after 24 minutes.
And it looked as though a real shock might be in store, until Stevenage midfielder Stacy Long equalised 10 minutes into the second half.
Workington will have fancied their chances in a replay at Borough Park, but instead saw their FA Trophy dreams come to an end as Long notched a second goal on the stroke of full time to break Cumbrian hearts.
Joining the Hertfordshire club at the Semi-Final stage will be Salisbury City, who saw off a late fightback to defeat Tamworth 2-1 at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
Conference Premier side Salisbury got off to a dream start when 18-year-old defender Ben Adelsbury put the Wiltshire side ahead inside the first minute. And they went in two goals in front at the half-way stage after Rob Sinclair doubled their advantage on 35 minutes.
But Salisbury were given a real scare when midfielder Tom Shaw pulled a goal back from the penalty spot with two minutes and injury time remaining.
Tamworth poured forward in search of an equaliser to earn a replay at the Lamb Ground, but in the end the hosts held on to reach the last four of The FA Trophy for the first time in their history.
Meanwhile, Kidderminster Harriers defeated Conference Premier leaders Oxford United 2-1 at the Kassam Stadium. Brian Smikle put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute, only for Matt Green to equalise midway through the second-half.
Both sides poured forward in a frenetic end to the tie, with Robbie Matthews snatching the game’s deciding goal for Kidderminster just seven minutes from full-time.
The day’s other Fourth Round Proper tie, between Barrow and York City, was postponed.
