Sutton Coldfield Town suffered last-gasp agony in The FA Trophy on Monday night when an own goal from Craig Owen handed Witton Albion a dramatic extra-time 3-2 victory at Coles Lane.

The sides were level at 2-2 after 90 minutes in the First Qualifying Round Replay and the tie looked set for penalties as extra-time drew to a close.

But with three minutes to go, Owen's unfortunate effort sent Witton through and earned them a home tie against Brigg Town.

Earlier, in an action-packed first-half, Sutton had gone ahead through a Craig Marshall penalty only to see Mike Moseley equalise in the 23rd minute.

Owen scored at the right end to put Sutton ahead for the second time but Brad Maylett levelled after 39 minutes to make it 2-2 at the break.

The second-half proved equally even, although home keeper Tony Breedon had to save a penalty from Steve Foster to keep Sutton, of the Southern League Midlands Division, on level terms.

But in the end Witton, currently third in the Northern League Division One South, grabbed a late, late winner.
