After scoring twice from the spot to secure Ebbsfleet’s place in The FA Carlsberg Trophy Final, Chris McPhee says he’d be happy to repeat the feat at Wembley on Saturday.

McPhee’s double strike from the spot at Stonebridge Road gave The Fleet a 3-1 win over Aldershot and McPhee’s knows he could be called upon again this weekend.

"I’ve scored five out of five so far this season and I’m always confident stepping up from 12 yards," he said.

McPhee puts his spot-kick success down to his mental approach to taking penalties, which focuses on being decisive and confident whenever he steps up to the spot.

"I’ve taken penalties wherever I’ve played and I‘d back myself against anybody to put the ball away," he explained.

"I’m quite unpredictable regarding which way I’m going to go – I don’t actually decide which way I’ll put the ball until I’ve got it in my hands and I’m putting it on the spot – and once I’ve decided where I’m going to put it, I never change my mind."

McPhee has netted 11 times for The Fleet this season and says that adding to that tally at Wembley would represent a dream come true.

"It’s every footballer’s dream to score at Wembley," he said.

"If I can bag a goal, whether it’s a penalty, or a ball scrambled over the line, it will be a fantastic achievement for me. To be honest, I don’t care who scores as long as we win, but if it does happen to be me, then I’ll be as delighted as anyone.

"It’s such a huge game and we’ll need someone to step up to the plate and I’m more than confident that if I have to step up, the ball’s going to end up in the net."
