A quick-fire late double from Jake Harris secured Newport County a dramatic late win at Worksop Town and a place in the Third Round of The FA Carlsberg Trophy.
Harris, who came on as a substitute, bagged two goals in the last five minutes to set up a clash with Carshalton Athletic.
Following a goalless first half, Elliott Buchanan broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 58th minute when he converted David Pipe’s expertly whipped in cross.
Massiah McDonald levelled for the home side 13 minutes later, lashing the ball past Newport 'keeper Glyn Thompson.
The tie looked to be heading for a replay until Harris’s late intervention. The 23-year-old restored Newport’s lead with a smart finish in the 86th minute, before clinching victory with a looping header in injury-time. The heartbroken hosts struggled to muster any late impetus and Newport clung on to secure the win.
Newport will host Carshalton on Saturday 4 February.
