Conference Premier teams Gateshead and York City, and Northern Premier side Northwich Victoria all booked their place in The FA Trophy quarter finals with victories on Tuesday night.

The pick of the results was Norwich Victoria’s emphatic 4-1 win over Conference South side Hampton and Richmond Borough.

The Vics are a division below their opponents but that did not faze Paul Simpson’s men on the night. A double from Nathan Woolfe followed by a strike from Wayne Riley and a penalty from Kyle Armstrong was enough to see the Vics through to face Conference Premier side Newport County.

The next team through to the quarter finals was Gateshead who were able to come through a hard-fought match against Alfreton Town to set up a high-profile clash with Luton Town.

The night was a difficult one for Gateshead, the northern club conceded an own goal from Eddie Odhiambo after just six minutes.

The early goal was a shock to Gateshead who have 26 more points than Alfreton in the Conference Premier. But their class was enough to clinch victory with a Jon Shaw penalty just before half time and a James Curtis winner saw Gateshead through to the last eight.

Another Conference Premier match-up saw York City just edge past Ebbsfleet United.

The game was even in the first half but the deadlock was finally broken through a Matty Blair goal to send the 2008 winners crashing out.

York City will now face Grimsby Town in the last eight.
