York City manager Martin Foyle was overjoyed for everyone associated with the club after seeing his Minstermen book their place in The FA Trophy Final at Wembley. Foyle’s side overcame AFC Telford 2-1 on the day and 4-1 on aggregate, and will face Stevenage in The Final on May 9. The North Yorkshire club have struggled financially in recent years, and the final whistle saw emotional scenes at Kit Kat Cresent. “It’s a fantastic achievement and it’s not until you win that you realise what it means to people – they are crying here," said Foyle. “There have been a lot of bad times, so I’m delighted for these people. We have all got to enjoy the moment. “All week I’ve told the players that nobody remembers the losing team – they just remember the winners. Now they've done just that and it’s fantastic for them. “We wanted to score first - after that we could relax a bit. There was good support and attendance and it was great for everyone.” Sophie Hicks, York City director added: “It’s absolutely amazing and fantastic for the club – it’s unbelievable. “The people of York really deserve this. We were 30 minutes from closure five years ago but this has made it all worth while.”GoalsYork CityBrodie 20, McBreen 66 AFC Telford UnitedBrown 86
