Hetton Lyons remain on course to repeat their Sunday Cup triumph of two years ago after grinding out a 1-0 home win against their bogey-team Huddersfield Irish Centre in the Fourth Round.

In an even-handed tie, Hetton needed a moment of slick passing and individual quality from Warren Byrne to overcome their old rivals, and march on in The Cup.

Despite an edgy first-half, both sides had chances to go score with Hetton's Gavin Cogden hitting a post early on. The away side responded through Ashley Flynn, who tested the keeper twice just before the break but to no avail.

It was a game that needed an extra touch of magic and Hitton produced just that to break the deadlock in the 53rd minute.

Anthony Peacock and Cogden combined in an intelligent move that fed Byrne into space. On the spin, he fired a shot past Jacob Giles from the edge of the box and sealed Hetton's place in the next round against Salisbury Athletic.

Athletic set up their tie with Hetton by beating Langley Celtic 1-0. at the Litherland Sports Ground in Liverpool.

Elsewhere, in a thrilling 10-goal encounter, Sungate beat North West Neasden 6-4 and now face Hazelhurst, who scored six of their own against Windmill, winning 6-1.

Shankhouse United needed penalties to beat Shamrocks AFC after a 2-2 stalemate. They will play Birstall Stamford at home in the Fifth Round after the latter forged a 3-2 win over Sandstone.

Magnet Tavern will have to wait until Valentine's Day to see who their perfect match is. The team from Boston, Lincolnshire comfortably won 3-0 at home to Travellers and will face either Wycombe Town or Lebeq Tavern Courage, who are due to play this Sunday.
