The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup

August deadline for FA Sunday Cup

Only six days left to register for the 2010-11 FA Sunday Cup.

Its been all change at Liverpool this summer, with Roy Hodgson and Joe Cole walking through the famous Shankly Gates to begin a new era on the red half of Merseyside.

And joining them at Anfield for 2010-11 will be The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup Final with The Football Association confirming that grassroots football’s premier knockout competition for non-contract players will be returning to the home of Liverpool for a ninth consecutive season.

Last season saw Hetton Lyons Cricket Club lift the trophy for a record third time after defeating Magnet Tavern 4-2 with Michael Rae scoring twice for the Durham outfit who followed up their Sunday Cup triumphs in 2006 and 2008 in emphatic style.

The competition enables Sunday League players who aren’t under written contract to pit their abilities against sides from across the country and, once again, The FA will be providing financial help in assisting clubs with their match expenses.

And the Chairman of The FA Sunday Cup, Roger Wood, is delighted to see The Final returning to Anfield: “Liverpool Football Club’s support for this competition is just priceless, as the chance to play at a world famous stadium like Anfield is a fantastic incentive for our competing Sunday League clubs.

“Hetton Lyons Cricket Club’s three cup wins at Anfield have shown what this competition means to clubs playing at this level and we’re looking forward to yet another action-packed FA Sunday Cup season.”
