The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup

Lakeside's Sunday joy

The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup
Fourth Round
Sunday 11 January 2009
Winning clubs will receive £400 from The FA

Adam Carter's stunning second half finish gave Lakeside Athletic a deserved victory in their FA Sunday Cup Fourth Round clash against Lebeq Tavern Courage.

The 21-year-old latched onto a through ball before hammering home from close-range to seal the win after a hard fought contest in Devon.

The visitors, who play in the Bristol and Sunday District League, pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but two super saves from keeper Joe Synbercombe ensured victory for the Plymouth-based side.

"Over the 90 minutes I think we deserved to win," said Lakeside club secretary Mike Maunder.

"It was a tough game and they really had a go at us towards the end but our keeper's done great to keep them out.

"We gave them plenty of respect but I think we merited the win."
