The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup

Groves dreaming of a hat-trick

Hetton boss eyes history with a third Sunday Cup success.

Hetton Lyons manager Bradley Groves is looking forward to visiting Anfield, and the chance to lead his team to a record third Sunday Cup triumph.

Hetton have a formidable recent pedigree in the competition having won in '06 and '08, and only losing out to the eventual winners in both '07 and '09, and are keen to put their names in the record books on Sunday.

"We are really looking forward to The Final and the possibility of becoming the first club to win The FA Sunday Cup on three occasions," Groves told TheFA.com. "This achievement is the focus for all the players and management alike and would be another milestone for the club. At the moment, we have had a superb season, playing well in all of our competitions again without any defeats.

"The FA Sunday Cup is the most prestigious cup to compete for in Sunday football and a real challenge for any team in England to win. A final venue at Liverpool’s Anfield, with all of its history, is a huge draw for any club or player to strive for and it is a tribute to our players and management team for all of their endeavours for us to reach The Final for the third time in five years."

Groves also reserved special praise for Hetton's opponents at the home of Premier League giants Liverpool on Sunday.

"We would like to congratulate the Magnet Tavern on reaching The Final of The FA Sunday Cup. They have played some really tough opponents on their way to The Final and will be formidable foes on the day for us in The Final."
