The road to Europe began on Friday for Amateur Leagues when the draw was made for the Preliminary Round of the 2009-10 FA Carlsberg National League System Cup.
A total of 44 Leagues have entered the competition with the holders, the Southern Amateur League, exempt until the First Round. Last season’s runners-up, the Midland Football Combination, play hosts to newcomers the West Yorkshire League.
Nottinghamshire Senior League have been drawn at home to the Teesside League and the Yorkshire Old Boys League will take on the Cumberland County League. The Birmingham and District Amateur League, Humber Premier League, Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur League and West Riding County Amateur Leagues have all received byes into First Round and will have to wait until the start of next season before their campaigns get underway.
All three offshore Islands have once again entered the competition and have all been drawn at home in the Preliminary Round. The Isle of Man play hosts to the Manchester League and the Guernsey Senior County League and Jersey Combination entertain the Kent County League and Spartan South Midlands League (Division Two) respectively.
