Norfolk won their first ever FA County Youth Cup after coming from behind to beat Staffordshire 4-2 in Saturday's Final at Stoke's Britannia stadium.

Staffordshire went ahead after just six minutes when Ryan Timmins headed home captain Jack Hulin's hung up free-kick that was awarded after a strong challenge by Jordan Southgate.

The goal sparked the teams into life and Norfolk almost hit back immediately but skipper Sam Borrer's header drifted agonisingly wide of the far post.

Sam Plimmer fired over for Staffordshire while at the other end Nathan Howard wasted a superb chance to draw Norfolk level when he contrived to stand on the ball and allow it to squirm into the grateful arms of goalkeeper Mark Wiggins.

Southgate pushed his luck too far and was booked for another lunge on Ashley Southall after 25 minutes.

Norfolk equalised shortly afterwards when Thomas McLeish's long throw-in was flicked on by Howard, leaving an unmarked Joe Marsden to nod home at the far post.

Howard completed the turnaround when he fired high into the net after Borrer's header was well saved low down by Wiggins.

The instrumental Borrer fired two efforts inches over the bar with half time approaching while Marsden also went close with a couple of fine strikes of his own, but it remained 2-1 at the break.

Norfolk didn't have to wait too long to extend their lead; just three minutes into the second half Howard curled a beautiful effort into the top corner with his left foot.

Norfolk's Lewis Butcher saw a header come back off the crossbar, but their luck was in shortly afterwards when Staffordshire defender Sam Cunningham headed a high free-kick into his own net in the 62nd minute for 4-1.

Staffordshire pulled a goal back with nine minutes remaining through England schoolboy Jack Sherratt, who let rip with a fine half-volley from 20 yards out.

But a comeback proved a step too far for Staffordshire, and it was Norfolk who came closest to scoring again when Ben Jones rattled the crossbar from the edge of the area and Jamie George had an effort tipped over.
