Chelsea star pleased with goal, but admits United deserved win.

Chelsea’s Salomon Kalou sealed his Wembley return with a goal in Sunday’s Community Shield, but admitted to FATV afterwards that Manchester United were deserved winners.

Kalou’s strike made it 2-1 with just under ten minutes left to play after earlier goals from Antonio Valencia and Javier Hernandez had put United in control, but Sir Alex Ferguson’s men added a third goal in added time through Dimitar Berbatov to lift The Shield.

"We are disappointed because we lost the game, but it is only a pre-season game and the most important game is on Saturday,” said the Ivorian striker.

"They played very well and created more chances and scored more goals than us so we can't complain.”

It was the final pre-season game for both teams ahead of next weekend’s Premier League openers, and Kalou was quick to take the positives out of the game.

"It was a great game to play in,” he added. “It was a warm-up, and a great warm-up against a great team in Manchester United.

"But now we have to be ready for Saturday because that's when everything starts.”
