England finished fourth at France 2019

England will head to Belgium next month for their first match since the run to the FIFA Women’s World Cup semi-finals as they build towards UEFA Euro 2021.

Phil Neville’s squad will travel to the Den Dreef Stadium in Leuven on Thursday 29 August, with kick-off at 7.30pm local time (6.30pm UK).

  • A Women's International
  • 6.30pm BST, Thursday 29 August
  • Den Dreef Stadium, Leuven
It will be the first meeting between the teams since a 2017 UEFA Euro qualifier at the same venue in September 2016. Goals from Nikita Parris and Karen Carney earned England a 2-0 victory that day to follow a 1-1 draw in Rotherham in April of the same year.

The match will be the first step in preparations for Euro 2021. As the host nation, England do not have to qualify for the final tournament.

Those on view against Belgium will also hope to stake an early claim for inclusion in the Team GB squad for the 2020 Olympics.

The Belgium fixture is the latest to be confirmed for the Lionesses, with England then travelling to Bergen to meet Norway – the team they beat in the World Cup quarter final this summer – on Tuesday 3 September.

That fixture will be followed by Germany coming to Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Saturday 9 November – with more than 40,000 tickets having already been sold.
