Fulham's Marcus Bettinelli has linked up with the England squad for the games with Spain and Switzerland

Fulham’s Marcus Bettinelli has received his first call up to the England senior men’s squad.

The 26-year-old will bolster Gareth Southgate’s goalkeeping options ahead of the forthcoming fixtures against Spain and Switzerland.

Bettinelli, a former England U21 international who previously worked under Southgate in 2015, was due to link up with the Three Lions at St. George’s Park on Tuesday afternoon and joins fellow goalkeepers Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland and Alex McCarthy.

Meanwhile, Adam Lallana has returned to Liverpool for further assessment of a groin strain.

The midfielder was withdrawn from training on Tuesday and will play no part in England’s forthcoming fixtures against Spain and Switzerland.
