Eric Dier has paid tribute to England’s fans at home and in Russia, as the Three Lions gear up for Saturday’s World Cup quarter final with Sweden.
The Spurs midfielder was a special guest on Wednesday’s edition of the Lions’ Den, following his match-winning penalty in the victory over Colombia the previous night.
And after watching video clips of fans celebrating his spot-kick across England, Dier admits that seeing the scenes back home helps inspire the squad to provide more.
"It's an incredible feeling,” he said.
"We've seen images like this after previous games and we want to keep replicating them and making them bigger and better every time.
"The reactions are incredible and when we watch these reactions, it brings us the same kind of joy.
"We're so grateful for the fans, those who have made the trip over here - we know how hard it is for the fans to get over here to support us - and everyone at home who is supporting us too.
"It's almost like they're here with us, in this day and age with all the technology.
"We're feeling a lot of love and a lot of support and it's so important to us to keep us going, they make all the difference.”
With the squad now back at their base camp in Repino, the focus has been firmly shifted onto quarter final opponents Sweden, who England will meet in Samara on Saturday.
And Dier admits that while everyone enjoyed the moment following Tuesday’s win, it didn’t take long for them to re-adjust their attention.
"We don't want to get too carried away, we want to focus on the Sweden game and that's the most important thing,” he added.
"We're going to be doing everything we can over the next few days to prepare for it and hopefully we can come out on top.
"We are focused and back to work already. We enjoyed the win but we want to keep this journey going.”
