Harry Winks has been added to Gareth Southgate's squad from the U21s ranks

Harry Winks has been called up to the England squad for the first time, while Fabian Delph and Phil Jones have returned to their clubs.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was initially named in Aidy Boothroyd’s U21 squad for their games with Scotland and Andorra and joined up with them on Sunday evening before training on Monday morning.

But the 21-year-old will now move upstairs at St. George's Park to link up with Gareth Southgate’s seniors and will be part of the squad that travels to London on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia at Wembley.

Delph and Jones had reported to St. George’s Park on Sunday evening but after being assessed before training on Monday, it was felt best they return to Manchester City and Manchester United respectively for treatment.

Their departure and Winks’ addition means Southgate has 25 players to choose from for the fixtures against Slovenia at Wembley and away to Lithuania next Sunday, although Dele Alli is suspended for the first of the two ties.

Tickets for Thursday's game with Slovenia are still available now, priced from £20 for adults and £10 for concessions. Click here for more details or to purchase tickets.
