Sammy Lee will rejoin the England backroom team – where he will rekindle his successful working relationship with new Three Lions boss Sam Allardyce.

Lee first worked in the England set-up under Sven-Goran Eriksson and was Allardyce’s assistant at Bolton Wanderers.

Lee left Southampton at the end of last season, having previously held a coaching role at his former club Liverpool.

Allardyce said: “Sammy is joining me for a second time which is pleasing for me because we had a great time at Bolton in the time we were there but also because he’s had international experience over the years as well.

“He’s going to be one of many who join me in the near future and we’ll be making an announcement if and when it’s all agreed.”
