Lucy Staniforth has vowed to step up her performance level to help Sunderland reach the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final.

The Black Cats face 13-time winners Arsenal in the last four on Sunday with a place in next month’s Wembley showpiece up for grabs.

And Staniforth wants to put in her best game for the club since joining from Liverpool in January.

She said: “I would be stupid to say I am happy with everything in terms of my performances because I am always looking to improve game by game.

“Of course, if I can do that then I’m sure I will be able to help the team progress to a Wembley cup final and that would be amazing.”

Carlton Fairweather’s side saw off Yeovil in the fifth round and newly-promoted Reading in the quarter finals.

They now face Arsenal in Borehamwood on Sunday, seven years after losing to them in The Final.

Staniforth added: “We are one game away from Wembley so it’s a massive opportunity.

“We are going to go to Arsenal with all guns blazing and try our best to get there because it would be a great occasion for everyone at the club.”

The other semi-final is between holders Chelsea and FA WSL 1 league leaders Manchester City.

This year’s Final takes place at Wembley on Saturday 14 May and thanks to The FA's partnership with SSE, all children will be able to attend for free.

Adult tickets are priced £15 and group bookings and charter standard discounts are also available.

Tickets for The Final are on sale now via TheFA.com/Tickets or by calling 0844 826 2010.
