Baily Cargill has committed his future to Premier League new boys Bournemouth, after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.

The England Under-20s defender is yet to make a league appearance for the Cherries, but has made six cup appearances – and impressed throughout.

So much so that in November 2014 his form earned him a call to Aidy Boothroyd’s U20s side, and boss Eddie Howe has moved to secure the 20-year-old’s future.

Cargill says he was delighted to to put pen to paper. “I’m really pleased as it’s another good moment for me,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’m thankful to the club and the manager for showing faith in me and offering me a new deal.

“The gaffer always says that if I work hard, he will reward me on and off the pitch.

“I’m glad he has stuck by his word and it makes me want to work even harder.”

Bournemouth, who are about to embark on their maiden campaign in the top flight, kick-off their season with a home game against Aston Villa on Saturday 8 August.

They follow that with a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool nine days later, before travelling to the east end of London to take on West Ham on Saturday 22 August.

“It’s been an amazing year, and the England call-ups were crazy, but I’m enjoying it and taking it all in my stride”

Fixtures Cargill says he cannot wait to be a part of, and insisted he wants to stay and fight for his place.

“I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League and to be offered a contract as a Premier League player is amazing,” he added.

“I hadn’t heard of any interest (from other clubs regarding a loan move) and it would have been nice if there had been, but I want to stay here.

“I want to get into that team and play week in week out. My aim has always been to play for Bournemouth and I want to prove I’m good enough.

“I do sit at home sometimes think that this time last season I couldn’t imagine being in this position.
