Tottenham left-back Danny Rose has heaped praise on two-goal Harry Kane after the 21-year-old’s brace helped Spurs beat Chelsea 5-3 at White Hart Lane.
England Under-21 striker Kane equalised Diego Costa’s early strike before Rose made it 2-1, pouncing on the rebound after Nacer Chadli’s shot hit the post.
Three Lions winger Andros Townsend netted a third from the penalty spot, after Kane was tripped by Gary Cahill, and Kane made it 4-1 after the break – his 17th goal in all competitions this season.
Kane's England factfile
DOB: 28/07/1993
Under-21s: 10 caps, 8 goals
U20s: 3 caps, 1 goal
U19s: 14 caps, 6 goals
U17s: 3 caps, 2 goals
Eden Hazard capitalised on a Federico Fazio mistake, but Kane set up Chadli to make it 5-2. John Terry scored a late consolation but Spurs held on for the win.
And Rose lauded his team-mate Kane after the youngster’s man of the match performance.
He told Spurs TV: “Harry can do no wrong at the minute, and every bit of praise he gets he fully deserves.
“I remember when he was a bit younger and he used to come up and train with the first team you could see the hunger he had.
“His finishing was brilliant, right and left foot. He holds the ball up well, he’s honest, he runs in behind, he’ll chase every ball.
“I’m so happy for him and he deserves every bit of praise he gets.”
Kane was instrumental as Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s qualified for this summer’s Euro Finals, and he has netted eight goals in 10 matches for the Young Lions.
England Under-21s have been drawn in Group B for the tournament, which will be staged in the Czech Republic, alongside Portugal, Sweden and Italy.
Kane has also netted for England at U20, U19 and U17 level.
