The match will form part of head coach Mark Sampson’s preparations for next summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

It will be the first time a women’s football match is played at Wembley Stadium since the 2012 London Olympic Games. The match is a reciprocal agreement, which will see England travel to Germany for a reverse fixture.

England captain Steph Houghton, who scored the only goal in Team GB’s 1-0 win over Brazil at the 2012 Olympics, said: “Now that the league season is finished for us, all of the players’ thoughts are on the Germany game – we can’t wait to step out onto the Wembley pitch.

“The match against Brazil for Team GB is a day I’ll never forget and we got so much support from the fans in the stadium and those watching on TV.

“It’s great that the BBC are showing the game live and showcasing women’s football.  It should be a really good game, Germany are an excellent team and it will be a great occasion for the women’s game.”
