England forward Theo Walcott says he was left with an "amazing feeling" after making his return to first-team action with Arsenal.
The 25-year-old featured as a second-half substitute in the Gunners’ 3-0 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
And after missing the last ten months with a long-term knee injury which kept him out of this summer's World Cup, Walcott was pleased to take the next step on his recovery after a successful rehabilitation.
"I’ve still got to be patient,” he said, after replacing Three Lions team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the last ten minutes of the game.
"It’s not going to happen overnight, even though I almost scored within a few minutes, but I don’t want to score too early.
"But it was an amazing feeling and it’s great just to be back and playing with the guys.
"It’s so exciting now.”
The former Southampton man, who was back in Arsene Wenger's squad as an un-used substitute last weekend following appearances for the club's Under-21 side, also paid tribute to the Arsenal supporters for the reception they gave him throughout the day.
"The warm-up alone was just fantastic," he added.
"The crowd have always been great to me."
