Sir Trevor Brooking was the guest of honour during Saturday's game at Dagenham & Redbridge as the east London club hosted a 'Daggers Against Racism Day'.
The League Two side welcomed Hartlepool United to Victoria Road on Saturday and although event on the pitch did not go quite to plan - with Pool coming away with all three points after a 2-0 victory - the day was a resounding success and the West Ham and England legend praised the event's organisers.
"I know first hand just how welcoming east London is to people from all different cultures and backgrounds," said Sir Trevor.
"This, coupled with its historic appetite for football, makes it a special place.
"I'm delighted Dagenham and Redbridge continue to embrace these two characteristics with the Daggers v Racism day, an initiative which everyone in the area should be proud of."

Now in its fifth year, the campaign offers fans a discount on tickets starting as little as 50p, as well as host of activities before the match.
The match focused on encouraging both Daggers and Hartlepool fans to ‘sign up against racism’ and back the positive work of the club within the local community.
