Criminal Record Check & Affiliation

Affiliation and compliance with FA Criminal Records Checks (CRC) policy and regulations

CRC Affiliation 2015

Anyone working in an eligible role, directly working with children and young people – such as managers and coaches – MUST hold an 'in-date', FA Accepted, CRC as part of responsible recruitment practice before they work or volunteer within football.

Important Note: Affiliation Season 2015-16 and Onwards

From Season 2015/16, compliance with FA CRC requirements forms part of the affiliation criteria for clubs with youth sections/teams.

It also forms part of the registration process for referee's wishing to officiate within youth football and membership of The FA Licensed Coaches club for UK based coaches wishing to work with children and young people.

What is an in-date or current Criminal record Checks CRC?

To be ‘in-date’ means:

  • CRBs with an issue date prior to 2010 should have been renewed before 1 September 2014.
  • CRB/CRCs with issue dates of 2010, 2011 or 2012 MUST be renewed by 1 September 2015 (CRB/CRCs issued in 2012 need to renewed as they reach the three-year point)
  • CRCs issued 2013 onwards should be renewed in line with The FA three-year renewal policy
