FA Chair Debbie Hewitt MBE was in attendance at Ewood Park this weekend to present Blackburn Rovers with a replica FA Cup as part of the club’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

The six-time competition winners – who marked a milestone birthday on 5 November 2025 – lifted the famous trophy in three consecutive seasons between 1884 and 1886 – twice beating Queen’s Park in the final before seeing off West Bromwich Albion in the replay to make it three in a row – an achievement for which they were previously presented with a unique shield which is on display at Rovers’ home ground.

Blackburn then went back-to-back between 1890 and 1891, beating Sheffield Wednesday 6-1 in the 1890 showpiece – the record-equalling most goals scored in an FA Cup Final – and seeing off Notts County the following season.

In total, the club have made eight FA Cup finals across their history, with their most recent triumph coming in 1928 when they overcame Huddersfield Town in the final at Wembley in front of over 92,000 fans.

Debbie was joined by current Rovers defender Scott Wharton – brother of England international Adam Wharton who also began his career with his hometown club – along with former players and 1994-95 Premier League title winners Colin Hendry and Kevin Gallacher and the club’s director, Rob Coar.

She was also accompanied by Andy Ambler, Director of Professional Game Relations at the FA, on her trip to Lancashire.

The club, who drew 2-2 in their EFL Championship fixture against Charlton Athletic on the day, enter the FA Cup once again this weekend as they travel to league rivals Hull City in the third round proper.
