Wednesday 30 Nov 2016

Matlock Town knocked holders FC Halifax Town out of The Buildbase FA Trophy in third round qualifying with a 3-2 replay win on Tuesday night.

Marcus Dinanga scored a first-half double to put the Gladiators in control but strikes from Jake Hibbs and replacement Matty Kosylo pulled the holders level.

Ted Cribley grabbed a dramatic winner on 74 minutes to send Matlock into the first round proper where they will face Solihull Moors on December 10.

Wealdstone will face Wingate & Finchley in the first round after they beat Maidenhead United 2-1 in their replay.

Matty Whichelow broke the deadlock on the hour mark before Liam Goulding doubled the lead. Dave Tarpey pulled one goal back for United but they were unable to find an equaliser.

James Walshaw scored a hat-trick as Farsley Celtic beat Tamworth 4-0 to book their place in the next round with Richard Marshall also getting his name on the scoresheet.

A 78th-minute goal from substitute Brannon O’Neill was enough for Worthing to knock Hemel Hempstead out and set up a first round tie with Dagenham & Redbridge. Worthing’s Omar Bugiel was sent off in injury time after picking up two bookings.

Danny Mills’ goal was enough for Whitehawk, under new manager Alan Payne, to beat St Albans City 1-0 and they will face Weymouth, who beat Poole Town 2-0, on December 10.

Chris Shephard and Stuart Fleetwood got the goals either side of half-time for The Terras who had been held to a 1-1 draw by their local rivals on Saturday.

Brackley Town beat Mickleover Sports 3-1 with goals from David Mayo, Matt Lowe and Steve Diggin seeing them safely through. Adam Baskerville got a late consolation from the penalty spot.

On Monday, substitute Chekaine Steele got the winner as Worcester City beat Curzon Ashton, who face AFC Wimbledon in The Emirates FA Cup second round on Saturday, 2-1.
