Matchday experience: full-time

Guide 5 - 11

In the sixth part of a series focusing on the matchday experience for Foundation Phase players, we look at what should be said in the team talk after the game.
The moments after the full-time whistle goes are important, so it’s necessary to take a step back and think carefully about what information you tell your players. When the game is over, avoid the temptation to have a massive autopsy about everything that went on.

Instead, try to provide one or two points to think about or to carry over into training and the next match. Then, park it and move on – regardless of the result.

Remember that development is a long-term process so build their understanding slowly over time.

Watch the video below to see how this approach can be used after the full-time whistle.
