Burnley FC academy: receive, pass and move

This addition to the carousel by Burnley academy is a great way to allow the players to experiment and to be creative, but it’s also an opportunity to influence what the club requires its players to be good at.
In the first part the players are asked to be creative and to try things, whilst the second challenge is more structured as the coach is looking for specific returns. When watching the video, notice how in the last activity both receiving players use different techniques to identify where the “third” player is. One player uses a very evident scanning technique, while the other player seems to know where his teammate is without the same kind of overt turn of the head. This is useful for coaches to take note of in order to recognise the individuality of each player.
