Hat-trick hero Peter Crouch said England are in perfect shape ahead of their World Cup opener against Paraguay.
The Liverpool striker made it four in a week after his three-goal haul against Jamaica in England’s 6-0 win at Old Trafford.
He could have had a fourth but for a second-half penalty miss and is hoping he has done enough to made Sven’s starting line-up in Frankfurt next Saturday.
Crouch said: "I had a chance to make it three with the penalty. I missed, which was disappointing, but thankfully I managed to get the hat-trick and we have managed to get a good win.
"We know it will be a difficult tournament but we know it is one we can do well in. We have enough experienced players in the squad and we are going to Germany full of confidence. The whole squad can’t wait to get out there.
"Going to Portugal brought us together and the team bonded well out there and I think it shows on the pitch.
"You just hope you can do your best and thankfully I have managed to get a few goals. The most important thing is the team and we all gelled and looked like a proper team."
On his partnership with Michael Owen up front, Crouch added: "Every time I have played with Michael, I have enjoyed it. We complement each other well and he is a great player and hopefully we have shown we can play together."
